Editor, TV Week Magazine, Burnaby, B.C.
Duties included planning issues, assigning stories, editing, interviewing and writing about television celebrities, writing a weekly editorial, covering press tours in L.A. and Toronto three times a year to report on the new seasons, maintaining a budget, working with art director on overall design and look of the magazine. During my tenure, one particular issue scored the highest newsstand sales in the publication’s 25-year history.
Editor, Westworld Magazine, Burnaby B.C.
Duties included planning issues, assigning travel stories, editing, writing, maintaining a budget, working with the art director on the lay out and overall look of the publication, liaising with corporate client CAA. During my tenure, Westworld won Magazine of the Year at the Western Magazine Awards in 1995. Personally, I won Best Story in a competition of every auto club magazine in North America.
I taught travel writing for 2 years at Langara College, as well as lectured on travel writing at local colleges and universities. I have been a board member of the Western Magazine Awards, and co-founded the Magazine Editors of Vancouver Association. I was a regular guest on Corus Radio’s CKNW, which airs across the country, talking about television trends. The spring 2003 ratings period showed a spike in listenership during my segment. I was also a member for 10 years of the Television Critics Association, attending bi-annual conferences in Los Angeles to interview actors, producers, directors and writers for publication. Before, during and after my tenure at Westworld, I travelled to nearly 60 countries on six continents, and wrote about most of them for publication. My first travel guide, Moon Metro Vancouver, was published by Avalon Travel Publishing in May 2004.
While driving from B.C. to Mexico in 2010, pet-sitting in four different villages over six months, I blogged about the experience, which morphed into an ebook, called Adventures in Pet-Sitting, available at amazon.com and smashwords.com. A printed edition was published in the spring of 2013, available at Amazon (colour edition and black and white edition). I also maintain a pet blog, called The Pet-Sitters’ Post, which includes my chronicles of pet-sitting in Mexico as well as my home province of Beautiful British Columbia.

Hired Robin as a Writer/Editor in 2002; hired Robin more than once
“While Robin has a terrific writing style, I enjoyed working with her during my time as an assignment editor at People because she was a reliable, great reporter who knew what was needed on every story and turned in terrific anecdotes and quotes. She is an asset to any publication.” March 28, 2012

Hired Robin as a Writer/Editor in 2002; hired Robin more than once
“Robin can add sparkle to even the most straightforward writing assignment. I assigned articles to her at BC Business magazine when I had a subject that just begged for her cheeky style; and I assigned a series of articles for Fraser Health when I needed a writer who, despite her lack of health care knowledge, could deliver the goods with just the right amount of flair. Highly recommend for any writing assignment.” March 13, 2012

Hired Robin as a Writer/Editor in 2001; hired Robin more than once
“Robin contributed frequently to magazines I’ve edited, including TV Guide Canada and Inspired Living Magazine. She is detailed-oriented, thorough, conscious of the objectives she needs to achieve, while still creating engaging content. She takes a 360-degree view of the topics she tackles and, equally importantly, she is able to meet her deadlines. I have no hesitation in recommending Robin’s work.” March 9, 2012

Worked with Robin at Mehfil Magazine and one-off stand-alone publications
Robin is one of those rare individuals that you automatically like the first time you meet them. Since the early years of when Mehfil Magazine – a unique Indo-Canadian publication – first launched in 1993, Robin was one of the key writers that made the publication a success. Her easy to read writing style allows the most complex subjects to be understood by the masses. A pleasure to work with. One of my favourite writers. Highly recommended.

Worked with Robin at TV Week Magazine and on-air with CKNW and ROCK 101
I have had the pleasure of working with and for Robin. She contributed to the ROCK 101 Morning Show in Vancouver as our entertainment reporter and insider. She was also the editor at TV Week Magazine when my co-host Dean Hill and I wrote an entertainment gossip column.
Her contributions to our morning show added information our listeners were interested in. The bonus with Robin is she was able to interact with us on the air as well as ad lib. As a result she made our show more entertaining.
As an editor Robin allowed Dean and me to have fun with our column allowing our personalities to show through while making sure we informed people about what was going on in the entertainment world.
I have no hesitation in recommending Robin for her skills and expertise and would consider it a pleasure to work with or for her again. She’s a lot fun too.
